JORO

JORO are a 9-piece Afrobeat band from London who formed in early 2016. JORO released their first self- recorded EP in 2016 and a Live recorded EP in 2018. The band is made up of experienced musicians who share a love of Afrobeat and groove music. They mix the sounds of the legendary Fela Kuti with their own recipe of Jazz, Hip-Hop, Rock, and Dub, along with Anthemic horn lines, slinky bass, funky keys and chugging rhythm guitar super glued together by lock tight drums and percussion. Under a powerful lead singer backed by sweet vocal harmonies: incisive crafted songs with thoughtful commentary on our times, meets an uplifting live vibe to power you on.

JORO have played several shows in London and around the UK, shows in London including headline slots at Hootananny Brixton, The Magic Garden, and The Fox & Firkin. They also headlined Brockley Max Festival, The Lambeth Country Show After Party 2019 and Longlisted for the Glastonbury Emerging Talent 2020.
